Even more wearables

Wizards are like magpies. I keep accumulating stuff, even though from a burden-wise point of view, I have to be more selecting about carrying it on me than I would like. Here are a few additions since last we spoke on this matter:

get morgana from every blorples

You get Fata Morgana from a pocket in Blorples.

look morgana

This is a magnificent bronze ring.  Set with a central huge multi-faceted diamond that is surrounded by twelve huge star-shaped sapphires, the ring is a masterpiece that must have taken much skill and patience to craft.  The surrounding sapphires glitter gently in the brilliant light that the diamond gives off, causing the ring to look even more spectacular in its bronze setting.

Fata Morgana is a diamond ring.

It has the hazy octarine sparkle of a magical talisman.

Some time ago I used to have a fancy bronze ring for the casting of illusions, but I seem to have lost it somewhere, so I ordered a new one. Of course, being a wizard, it had to be the fanciest, gaudiest bronze ring I could order, something to put to shame normal finger bands of base gold. I cannot remember how much it cost, but you could probably buy a small country with that amount. No expense was spared.

look mistress

This is a band of platinum with what looks like a stylised fish design on it.  A moderately-sized sapphire is set as the visible eye.

Koi Mistress is a fish ring.

It has the hazy octarine sparkle of a magical talisman.

I always take pride in showing off my belonging to House Sung, and a ring such as this is worn by the Lord, the Lady and the Young Lady, so I had to get one for myself.

get Sapphire Summoner from pack

You get a sapphire hilted knife from a pocket in an ornate bone backpack.

look Sapphire Summoner

With a long, one sharp sided blade this knife is pretty much like any other knife, except it is quite a bit heavier.  The cause of this is the large sapphire which resides at the base of the handle, as well as the sapphires which have been crafted into the handle in circles all the way up and down its length.  While the handle looks pretty and quite intricate and delicate, the blade is a different affair, a dark and evil affair.

Sapphire Summoner is a sapphire hilted knife.

It has the hazy octarine sparkle of a magical talisman.

I recently rediscovered Kelleflump's Irritating Demon as a useful spell for finishing off badly damaged trolls (when they are strong, my sword is generally unable to get a dent on them). For some casts I was using a bone knife, but I made a search for the fanciest looking one I might employ, and this one turned up as an implement of a servant of house Fang, which I promptly and terminally persuaded its owner to part from. Had it deluded, too...

This pretty white gold pendant forms an elegant setting for a large trillion cut moonstone, highlighting its inherent beauty.

The moonstone pendant was a present from Urwan,  a Silver Star wizard. I have to try my own hand at gemsmithing as soon as I've been able to turn out good pots and nice rings.

I thanked Urwan with one of my fancy flutes, but was also able to use some nice calligraphy to express my gratitude. It is an art I never get enough chances to make use of, even though I have some very lovely tools with  which to do it:

get case from wardrobe
You get a red lacquer brush case from a large wardrobe.
look case
This narrow cylinder, made from smooth dark red lacquer, is perfectly sized to hold a calligraphy brush safely and securely.  A smaller version of the shigeo cord found on a katana saya wraps around the case near its throat, and can be used to secure it at the waist.
It could sheathe a brush, pencil or pen.
The red lacquer brush case contains: an expensive ebony calligraphy brush.
It is in excellent condition.

draw brush from case
You put down a wooden harp from your left hand and right hand.
You draw an expensive ebony calligraphy brush from a red lacquer brush case into your left hand.
look brush
The handle of this paintbrush is made of dark ebony wood of exceptional quality, featuring a gleaming silver collar to ensure that the deep black bristles stay in place.  The bristles themselves don't seem to belong to any recognisable animal and are incredibly fine in texture.  They are held in place by a shining silver collar that complements the darkness of the wood perfectly.  This brush looks like it would be excellent when performing intricate, detailed work.
It is in excellent condition.

I also decided to change boots, as the previous ones were a tad heavy, even if they were very fancy and could sheathe a dagger. I've gone for standard, Artificer boots, which can also sheathe wands in case I find it necessary in the future:

These knee-high brown leather boots lace up the front with sturdy cord, and both the toe-caps and the low heels have been plated with steel for protection. The workmanship is solid without being too heavy, and there's enough room inside each to hold a wand conveniently to hand.
It could sheathe a wand.

Finally, as I've started bringing down the Heavenly Storm Dragon, I find myself in need of a staff as a component. I already carry one stowed away into the pocket dimension of a sapphire ring, but as casting this spell takes like forever, using that one would only lengthen the process. And there's a very useful piece of confectionary that one can use for this process:

l staff in pack
This is, without a doubt, one of the fabled knobbed staves of wizardly lore.  The fine-grained shaft is inlaid with sigils and runes, and the glistening knob draws all eyes with its eldritch air of barely contained arcane might.  The air around the staff feels slightly greasy, and seems to shimmer and hum with potentiality.  It's also about six inches long and made of toffee.
The knob glimmers in octarine.

A Cup of Klatchian Coffee

We live in a multicultural Disc, and yet the easy casting of a spell can take you in seconds from one end of it to the other, allowing you to savor its many cultures. I am really fond of the Agatean Empire aesthetic pursuits and style, but of late I have also being trying some things from darkest Klatch, including the coffee.

Although the great city of Al-Khali may be still out of bounds, there are different places to explore for he who would like to know more about our southern rival's traditions and way of life. More specifically, there is an abandoned wizard outpost, now teeming only with djinns, where one can find some interesting things:

This cavern is sweltering hot and bathed in a flickering yellow-green light.  The colouration originates from a huge furnace by the east wall, which roars with a wholly unnatural-looking fire.  Next to the furnace is an equally oversized stone table, on which sits a set of blacksmithing tools.  The atmosphere in here is grim and oppressive, and compounded by the series of disturbing images that adorn the walls.
There is one obvious exit: south.
Jassi the Inferno is floating here.
An obsidian worktable is next to the furnace.
l djinn
This is Jassi, the Inferno.  He is a massive ifrit - a fearsome and powerful type of djinn known for their cruel disposition.  His body burns with green-yellow flames and two mighty horns protrude from his forehead.  A wispy tail connects him back to the forge here like a tether - it seems that he and the forge are bound to one another.
He is in good shape.
He is floating here.

There are devious ways of getting the efrit to make some special weapons for you, which I managed with help of Thalic and Ochrion. The gold-veined khopesh was pretty disappointing: it can burst into flames, but they deal ridiculously little damage to others (more so to you).  The bronze-veined keris I have found much more useful...

l keris

This short Klatchian dagger has a fascinating flamberged blade, with thirteen wicked curves along its length and a widened, asymmetrical base.  Rich veins of bronze run throughout the steel of the blade and the minimalist grip is made of pitch-black ebony inlaid with bright white scrollwork.
It seems to constantly shed a faint dusting of sparkling sand grains.  They are almost imperceptible, visible only to those who are watching carefully.
It has the hazy octarine sparkle of a magical talisman.

Close by you may find a dimly lit tannery where a meek djinn has some weapons and jewellery for sale. The jewellery is pretty special, and has some nice uses conjoined to some of Jassi's creations.

Here's what I bought for myself:

A large sparkling crystal sits at the centre of a black gold filigree flower in the wearer's navel, held by a slim black gold bar topped with a much smaller crystal.  Three short chains fall from the flower's petals, each ending in a matching tiny crystal.  Closer inspection of the central crystal reveals that some kind of sandstorm rages eternally within it, just below the surface.
In the midst of the sandstorm lurks a spectral figure.  It is empty-handed and waiting patiently.
It has the hazy octarine sparkle of a magical talisman.

Nearby, in an underground hall at the same settlement, one can find a couple of djinn-managed shops. The most interesting one sells clothing, and that is the one I have explored more fully:

It's hard to tell exactly what purpose this cluttered side room might once have served, although by the looks of the equipment in here, it was multi-functional to say the least.  The charred and broken remains include what looks to have been laundry utensils, a spinning wheel and a stove.  There are more ruined items but it's hard to tell what most of them might once have been.  One large table remains intact and a modest pile of clothing is piled upon it, as if displayed for sale.  A doorway in the east wall leads back to the main hall.
There is one obvious exit: east.
Khambriya is floating here.
A skeleton warrior arrives from the east.
A skeleton warrior succeeds in following you.
You close the east door.
l khambriya
The scrawny tabby cat nuzzles the evil-looking black cat affectionately.
This is Khambriya, a most unusual looking djinn in that her body is a pale, but fluorescent yellow colour.  Tall and unmistakably feminine, she exudes a quiet sense of dignity despite dwelling in these forsaken ruins.  Her eyes betray her obvious intelligence, always watching, always thinking.
She is in good shape.
She is floating here.
Holding : a small silver needle (left hand).
Carrying: a spool of cotton thread.

I decided to try a burnous, as they look very light and nice against both heat and cold:

l burnous
This distinctly Klatchian hooded cloak is made of high-quality, spun and treated mohair that has been dyed cool white throughout its length.  It fastens across the chest with ebony buttons and forms strong lines down the body before flaring a little to end around knee-height.  Decorative gold klatchesque embroidery runs around the borders and covers most of the hood to give it an almost ornate appearance.  It looks ideal for providing protection from the harsh desert sun.
The hood has been pulled forward, shading your features.
The fine cool white burnous has one inside upper-right pocket, one inside upper-left pocket, one inside lower-left pocket and one inside lower-right pocket.

Some wearables (2)

Dear reader: since last we talked about this topic, I've had the chance to change some of my most common wearable items. Others, on the other hand, didn't. Let's make a quick trip with some illustrations:

First, you will remember I was carrying around a deluded deep red silk backpack. I learned that Dave the Necromancer was a little bit stronger and now had a nice component pouch, so I paid him a visit and after some loud arguments (via mandrake roots), he agreed to part ways with his. I really love the look of necromantic gear, but it is generally too heavy for a dodger like me. Dave's backpack, though, besides looking cool, is a pound lighter than mine, and much sturdier. It carries the same weight and items but it is a bit smaller, so I have to leave my wooden harp at home now:

This is a thoroughly menacing backpack.  The frame of the backpack is composed of three pairs of skeletal arms, reaching around the sleek black leather as if to restrain it in place.  Two more pairs of skeletal arms act as the straps, the fingerbones moving and clasping onto each other as if alive.  To complete the theme, a stylized skull picked out in red-tarnished iron grins morbidly from the middle of the backpack.  Silvery runes run through the black leather like quicksilver.

Octarine light pulses around it like an evil heartbeat.

It has the hazy octarine sparkle of a magical talisman.

The ornate bone backpack has one skull pocket and one main pocket.

I have also stored away most of my Agatean clothes, which were quite heavy, and rescued both my old yellow robe and my trusty boots. The latter have the advantage of being able to sheathe my components dagger, which also means I no longer have to carry the emerald-studded belt, and *can* carry the silvery gray saya of my kodachi.

Moving away from clothes to other wearables: I have been carrying, and continue to do so, the following trinkets on me:

Frostkiss Sentinel (Ice blue crystal brooch)

This is the last remaining bit of a lot of very lovely and spammy glass jewelry I had Libby Twinkle make for me from crystal eggs.  It is still beautiful, but it also has some practical uses:

This is a delicate brooch made of glittering ice blue crystal.  It is shaped up into a finely faceted oval, decorated with coiling silver filigree.
It seems to be strangely sensitive to the warmth of other people.
Frostkiss Sentinel is an ice blue crystal brooch.
It gives off a steady but dull octarine glow.
It has the hazy octarine sparkle of a magical talisman.
It is in excellent condition.

Blue ring

Even more utilitarian,  if still fancy, is a blue crystal ring for portalling out of unpleasant situations. I've been giving it quite a lot of use lately...

You recognise the blue crystal ring to be a ring of recall.  The ring is a single piece of a sapphire, cut and polished until its facets sparkle in the light.
It gives off a steady but dull octarine glow.
It is in excellent condition.

Everbright Bauble (Mirrored timepiece)

Not only has this piece been a long time with me: it also multiplies uses in lots of amazing ways.  It is a pretty silver necklace; it tells the time; it is a permalight; its mirror allows me to cast Floron's for scrying, and because it counts as a silver necklace, I am currently employing it to magically lighten the weight of my kodachi:

The face and hands of this timepiece are silver while the numbers have been picked out in mother of pearl.  It could be closed and worn as a large pendant.
The current time displayed is: 8:40pm, Wednesday 15th May Prime, UC 2049.
Everbright Bauble is a mirrored timepiece.
It has the hazy octarine sparkle of a magical talisman.
It appears to have something written on it.
It is in excellent condition.

Twisted black amulet

I am currently wearing two of these. not only do they look amazing (no demonologist should be without them!), but they prove incredibly protective. A long time ago I made a big stock of them and as soon as they've melted, I go to the Djelibeybi vault for more:

This piece of black-stained silver isn't quite flat, and isn't evenly rounded, as though it had been warped by a fire.  The spikes and hooks around the rim have a disturbingly organic look, and the eldritch runes spiralling around the face are never the same twice.  Occasionally, you can make out glimmers of meaning in the runes, but the bitter, doleful words always retreat and change before your mind can do more than take a glimpse of the vast, empty infinity of unpleasant truth behind the blackened silver.
The metal looks dull and lifeless.
It is in excellent condition.

Senssu Fan

Not strictly worn, but carried. And yet once could say that for a person steeped into Agatean culture, it is an indispensable item, and non trivial skills and cultural accomplishment are necessary for opening and shutting it with elegance:

The fan is an essential accessory for any noble, allowing one to accentuate any mood and speak volumes with a tiny gesture.  At need, they might snap open this particular example to reveal the sharpened steel ribs and deliver a most pointed lesson in proper etiquette.  The strong, rich crimson silk has been beautifully painted with running horses.
The crimson senssu fan is currently open.
It is in excellent condition.

Sung family crest

And finally, my Agatean family crest. I am a loyal follower of house Sung. Besides, I have converted the silver carp into a talker:

Finely crafted in silver, this sigil shaped like a koi carp marks the owner as a member of the Sung family.
Just beneath the surface, you can make out what looks like a pair of glittering eyes.
It emits a slight octarine glow.
It appears to have something written on it.
It is in excellent condition.

read crest
You read the Sung family crest:
Written in neatly engraved letters:
Winswand, Sagely Lotus of House Sung

Wurphle's Packed Lunch

A few days ago I managed to master the skills I needed to cast this beauty (with a little help from a bronze helm, I must admit). This means there are only 3 spells left I have never cast, and which in no long time must go down to 0. Yippee!!

What's it called? Wurphle's Packed Lunch (WPL in short)

What does it do? It creates a wizard's lunch sack, which is a wearable container that magically preserves food (and more convenient: body parts) from spoiling without the need to cure them (whether with a pickling stick or non-magical means). This makes a really useful spell, as most wizards move around a lot, harvesting eyes and hearts 'on the run', and they oftentimes go mouldy, sometimes even in mid-cast.

Where is it? It lately resurfaced inside the pages of a very sticky grimoire: The Olde Arte of Foode, in the Unseen University Library.

What does it require? This was a bit of a bugger, as components are really expensive and/or difficult to get: a hubland bear fur (I died once trying to get one of these...), a sapient pearwood seed, a wood riving, a large rhokshial crystal (this costs a small kingdom), a threaded needle and a knife. Except for needle and knife, all other components are consumed in the process. The spell also requires the focus of an octogram.

What skills do I need? animating, enchanting, whittling and binding. Requirements are pretty high, but nothing a mid-level wizard cannot muster. Perhaps the whittling is the most annoying one, even if you are a Silver Star.

Has it worked? A correct output should read something like this:

You prepare to cast Wurphle's Packed Lunch.
> You hold out a sapient pearwood seed in front of you and force it to sprout with your mind, weaving its branches as they grow into a wooden frame.
You unevenly sew a dark violet bear fur over the frame to form a dark violet bag, imbuing it with magic with every pass of your whalebone needle.
You whittle a six-foot riving of oak into an intricate magical rune and place it onto the bag, where it sticks in place. With the leftover oak, you fashion a simple clasp to hold the bag closed.
Finally, you hold up a large blue crystal above the rune and reach into it with your mind, harnessing its power for the purpose of preservation.
Crackling arcs of blue energy surge out of the crystal and play over the surface of the dark violet wizard's lunch sack for a moment before sinking in reluctantly.

And that's it! If all has gone well, you should amidst your hands the following beauty:

This rustic-looking pouch is essentially a large dark violet fur bag designed to be worn from the waist.  Sewn together with uneven dark amber silk stitching, the fur is supported internally by a wooden frame to help it retain its shape and a simple oak clasp at the opening allows the sack to be closed securely.  A mysterious, glowing blue rune carved from oak has been affixed to the sack's surface.  While the exact purpose of the rune is indeterminable, its exciting sparkliness really hammers in the lunch sack's wizardliness to any onlooker.
A gossamer web of octarine glows dimly on its surface, emanating an aura of icy preservation.
The dark violet wizard's lunch sack has one main pocket, one dessert pocket, one cheese pocket and one appetizer pocket.
You cannot see inside it.  It is closed.
It is in excellent condition.

Notes: The pelt you get from a hubland bear can be tanned (and turned into 'fur') and dyed with a coloured ink of your choice. In my case, Thanks go to Geryon for colouring it for me.

Your skills in some crafts areas will affect the result: crafts.carpentry.whittling determines the look of the clasp ('simple' in my case) and crafts.materials.needlework the stitching ('uneven' in my case).

You may also remember that there are four colours for a rokshial crystal, whether big or small: yellow, green, blue and red. Depending on the one you find, the preservation magic is different: they will be vacuum, acidic, icy and fiery preservation respectively (mine was blue). Every time you open the sack you get a message:

A shock of frigid air escapes from the dark violet wizard's lunch sack as it opens.

At the bottom you can enjoy an iconograph of my own one.

Help Information:

Wurphle's Packed Lunch - crafts a lunchsack for keeping your lunch in

This spell helps you craft a lunchsack using a hubland bear fur, sapient pearwood seed, wood riving and a large rhokshial crystal. A threaded needle and a knife are also required, but not consumed.

The resulting lunchsack will keep food magically fresh using the power of the large rhokshial crystal. Its appearance will vary depending on the colour of the bear fur, the colour of the crystal, the type of wood riving and the type of thread on the needle.

Some wearables

I continue making use of Hex's recently discovered abilities to create iconographs on demand.  Without further ado, let's take a look at some of the stuff I wear:

Bottomless Pit

No, this isn't a mutilated Creator, but rather a deluded and very stylish Agatean backpack I had made for carrying spell components. Its description reads:

The deep red coloured backpack is made of durable traditional silk.  It is shaped like a tube.  Each pocket is adorned with delicate embroidery depicting dragons coiling and uncoiling in a lighter shade of red.

Bottomless Pit is a deep red silk backpack.

And the iconograph shows it like this:

The loot bag

Until recently, I was also walking around with a bag in which I stored money and loot, but as I have found a rather lucrative side job in Sto Lat making pottery, I have decided to leave it in a vault for the moment. It is gaudy enough to make it to here, though...

Originally designed for use by sailors, this larger duffel bag is made from porphyrous purple denim, secured with gold clasps, and sturdy enough to carry a full grown man inside.  The words "Winswand" and "My other bag's a cloud" have been stitched onto the duffel bag, and orchid purple rhinestones are scattered all over it.

And the iconograph shows this:

Artificer belt

This belt has been deluded as 'Blorples', and is one of the many containers I use for carrying blorpled rings, along with the odd tool I might need as a crafter. Its description reads thus:

Made from plain sturdy brown leather, with four sizeable pouches, this belt will hold all the small tools and materials an artificer needs.  The only concession to decoration is with the buckles, which are gleaming brass engraved with a dense network of thread-thin runes - runes of protection, care, and craft.
Blorples is an artificer's tool belt

And the iconograph shows us this:

Emerald-studded sword belt

While my weapon of choice comes with its own scabbard, I also wear this fancy belt for other swords or daggers I might be carrying. Today, this is mostly the dagger I use for gathering components. The description states:

Broad and thick, this dark leather belt has a simple buckle and a scattering of emeralds along its length.  A loop on each hip would serve any gentleman to carry a sword and dagger about town or while riding, but they would be less than secure in the hunting field or engaged in any activity more strenuous than a gentleman of leisure normally finds himself.
There is one loop free.
It could sheathe a rapier, foil, colichemarde, blade, dagger, sword, sabre, sidesword or epee.
The emerald-studded sword belt contains: Blade Of Morgul.

And the iconograph shows:

Blackened canteen

We conclude for today with what appear as a modest object, but it has saved my life lots of times, thanks to the healing tea it contains. Looking at it, you see:

Made from the bladder of some poor water buffalo, this canteen has been stained black and treated to last.  A long leather strap secured at either side of its spout allows it to be hung around one's neck.

And the iconograph shows:

More apparel - kimono, obi and zori

As you could guess from the hat, I have a predilection for Agatean fashions and styles. I am, after all, an honoured member of house Sung, and one must look the part, besides playing the part. Here are some further examples of my wearables:

This is a beautiful sapphire blue kimono that has been dyed with a delicate monarch butterfly pattern which circles around the lower portion of the skirt.  It has long, sweeping sleeves which drape down almost to the ground and encase the wearer's arms in a sheath of silk.  The kimono has been delicately embroidered with thin threads of gold leaf around the hem.  The inside of the kimono is lined with a delicately sewn layer of soft gold silk lining.  The way the bias has been cut indicates that this kimono was probably created for a ceremonial occasion.
The sapphire blue ceremonial kimono has two sleeve pockets and one side pocket.

This is a wide gold obi that has been finely crafted and wound in the style associated with the skilled artisans of Bes Pelargic.  Made of high quality heavy silk, its long sash is meant to be tied tightly around the waist and cinched up in an intricate bow. The obi has been hand painted with a multi-shaded fishscale pattern that extends down its length.

This is a handcrafted pair of wedge soled zori, which are a type of loose Agatean sandals traditionally paired with a kimono.  The zori have been covered in a soft gold silk that has been stretched across the bridge of the sandals and secured under the sole with a large number of small brass clothing tacks.  The silk has been delicately hand-painted with several differing shades of watercolour to depict a sunset pattern.  They have been squared off at their corners to indicate that they are to be worn by a man.  Finally, these zori have been adorned with a pair of simple sapphire blue coloured straps that hold them somewhat securely to the feet.

Some apparel - my hat!

Just made a return after a long time away, and as I have rented the services of DALL-E for the current month, I thought it would be a good idea to create a nice portrait of myself. This has proven to be more difficult than I expected, but in the interim, we can enjoy pieces of clothing and jewellery I am carrying - the program seems relatively good at doing that. First stop: my wizard hat:

This proper sapphire blue, silk crepe wizard's pointy hat has a perfectly cut lapis lazuli mounted front and centre which is surrounded by neatly embossed dragons. The embossed dragons are impressed into the silk crepe in such a way that the relief seems almost too realistic as they dance around the lapis lazuli, encircling it completely.

Thousand Dancing Celestial Fates

What's it called?
Thousand Dancing Celestial Fates (in brief, TDCF)

What does it do? I've already had occasion in the past to speak about this spell, or at list, of its results, so I will be quite brief. The spell allows you to create for someone else (not for you) a Zodiac Charm, which is a nice piece of very spammy jewellery. For information about how does it look, how does it change and the messages it produces, take a look here.
As to its uses, it allows you to suffer the same effects as a failure in the casting of Mugwuddle's: that is, to be trapped for a time in a hallucinatory world. What that would be good for, aside from the fun, is arguable.
The charm counts as 'armour' so be careful not to wear it while fighting, or it will break rather soon, and then you'll need to find a caster with the spell and components (quite expensive ones, too).

Where is it? We're in the crafts domain here, and this is the only spell at the moment found in the agatean volume called Advanced Arts and Sciences of the Cunning Artificer, at the Bes Pelargic Wizard's Guild.

What does it require? A sliver of octiron, a staff and the focus of an octogram. The sliver is 'consumed' in the process.

What skills do I need? Crafts Points, Turning, Whittling, Enchanting, Binding

Has it worked? The proper output should read something like this:

You prepare to cast Thousand Dancing Celestial Fates on xxx (someone else).
You step into the middle of the octogram and clench the octiron sliver in your firm, magical grasp.
Opening your hand, you stare at the sliver in your palm and force it to rise and ask it to spin.
As the sliver spins, you start whittling away at it with your mind.
The sliver starts to take form.
Noting the new form of the sliver, you concentrate on it fully and begin filling it with the taumic energies encircling you.
The spinning mass begins to slow down.
You catch it in midair and grip it firmly, binding the enchantment completely within the object.
A xxx charm wiggles in your hand!

Help Information:

Thousand Dancing Celestial Fates - Summons an object of terrible power.

Thousand Dancing Celestial Fates will call into existence a charm of incredible power.
You will, of course, have to cast this on someone else since you already know how charming you are.

Professor Flambardie's Grim Amulet

What's it called? Professor Flambardie's Grim Amulet (in brief, PFGA)

What does it do? After a good cast, this spell creates a 'twisted black amulet', which besides being a nice-looking piece of jewellery for daemonologists, is a requisite component for (and grants some protection from) the two main daemonic spells: Kelleflump's Irritating Demon and Doctor Kelleflump's Deadly Demon. In both cases, the amulet (which has already been described here) lasts a certain number of uses (probably skill-dependant, and usually not more than 12 or so casts even with good bonuses) before melting away.
The spell is a must if you intend to go around throwing evil imps at people. Because of its huge size and gp expenditure, along with relatively scarce components, the best way is to have a scroll of it and gathered components in a vault, and from time to time, re-stock your collection.

Where is it? As with all the hellish-dealing spells, it lurks inside the My Firste Demon-Summoning Booke! By Beatrix Faust grimoire, at the Unseen University Library.

What does it require? Lots of things: the focus of an octogram, a wand (not consumed), a small green crystal and a silver medallion (the last two consumed in the process).

What skills do I need? Amulet, Water, Wand, Summoning, Binding

Has it worked? The proper output should read something like this:

You prepare to cast Professor Flambardie's Grim Amulet.
You weigh the silver medallion in your hand, taking the measure of its form and material, and polish the surface clean and bright with a thought.
You take the Rhokshial's crystal firmly between thumb and forefinger, anointing the tip of your wand with the pure elemental essence of vitriol.
You sketch a series of eldritch runes onto the silver in dark, smoking lines of vitriol. As you draw, the runes writhe and twist, forming disturbing messages of madness and woe.
You whisper the three hidden names of the darkness, and the seven dread titles of the Lords who lurk in the rugose night beyond the edges of the world we know. One word more forces itself from your throat, the harsh-edged consonants scraping painfully across your palate, and echoes against unseen walls.
There is a sudden gust of chill, dank wind, carrying the moist unpleasant odour of old dead peat bogs and rotting garlic. You gather it firmly in your hands and twine it around the amulet, which twists and writhes, thrusting out spikes and hooks to catch and hold the demon-haunted air fast.
Your newly formed twisted black amulet glows with sullen power.

Professor Flambardie's Grim Amulet - Creates a protective amulet

Professor Flambardie wrote this spell to make sure that wizards would no longer be summoning demons without adequate equipment. Do be careful.
