Rubayak's Power Storage

What's it called? Rubayak's Power Storage (in brief, RPS)

What does it do? This spell is about recharging. As you probably know, there's different ways of getting an item recharged. The main one uses some pinches of purple mineral powder. Some mention a certain weak dust that can be harvested by sweeping Sandelphon's altar. The third is Rubayak's Power Storage. When you cast the spell, you 'store' all your guild points inside a shell. After many casts, the shell can be used as recharging fuel. Once used, the shell is spent.
The spell isn't of much use, as the difference between purple powder and itself is abysmal: you need to spend tons of gps into the shells to be able to recharge something bigger than a pickling stick. Overall, a good concept that is marred by balancing equations.

Where is it? You can find it inside the Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyverss grimoire, at the Unseen University Library.

What does it require? A black shell, in which to store the power. The shell isn't consumed in the casting, but much later, when you use it along with the 'recharge' command.

What skills do I need? Binding, Channeling, Enchanting, Enchanting (2)

Has it worked? The proper output should read something like this:

You prepare to cast Rubayak's Power Storage on the black shell.
You carefully inspect the black shell.
You collect power suitable for artifacts from within yourself.
You lift the black shell to eye level in front of you.
You funnel your power into the black shell.
The interior of the black shell glows a very faint pink for a moment.

Help Information:

Rubayak's Power Storage - store power

Rubayak's Power Storage allows you to store power in a spiral of containment for later use. It will drain all of your guild points and how well the power is stored will depend on your skills.

Master Glimer's Amazing Glowing Thing

What's it called
? Master Glimer's Amazing Glowing Thing (in short, MGAGT)

What does it do? Better known as the high-enchantment spell, Master Glimer's allows you to enchant objects well above the minimum levels that can be achieved with the lesser, enchanting spells employed by young wizards and witches. A seasoned wizard with some powder and patience can take items to the level at which they radiate pure octarine brilliance, even though it is not a cheap thing, and usually only done for pay. It tends to be more worthwile generally to just enchant items up to levels 4 our 5 (as the effects tend to pass with time).
As to the uses and virtues of enchanting items, much can be said, but as repetition isn't generally a virtue, you can read about it here.

Where is it? As an alterer of thaums and magic flows, the spell belongs to the Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyverss grimoire at the Unseen University Library

What does it require?a funnel, an octogram and a handful of purple powder per cast (ouch!), which is evidently consumed in the process.

What skills do I need? Evoking, Earth, Chanting, Binding, Enchanting

Has it worked? The proper output should read something like this:

You prepare to cast Master Glimer's Amazing Glowing Thing on xxx.
You carefully hold the xxx in your hand.

You close your eyes and start to juggle the xxx.

You start to chant the glorious words of power; you can see small sparks trailing out to the xxx.

You stop juggling the xxx and hold it tightly in your hands, forcing the magic to bind itself to the xxx.

Drawing in the local enchantment, you pour it into the funnel onto the xxx.

The xxx glows a little more intensely than before.

Jogloran's Portal of Cheaper Travel

What's it called
? Jogloran's Portal of Cheaper Travel (in short, JPCT).

What does it do? This is everybody's favourite and probably most used spell (even by a high number of non wizards, thanks to scrolls). Jogloran's is the most efficient means of fast travel in the Disc. A succesful cast will open a dimensional portal to some other place in the Discworld, in the shape of a peculiar door. The only inconveniences of the spell are that 1) for casting you need to have the location you want to go to previously stored ('blorpled') in an item, be it a stone or jewellery; and 2) it requires quite high-end skills for opening a portal to the place you actually want to go (good to look through the door before crossing just in case, as you may land in many dangerous places, like the Shades or in the middle of the sky...). Even with said skills, misportals are quite regular currency, as are rumbling/burning doors which will burn you or explode in your face, specially if you are trigger-happy.

Where is it? In ages past, when it was easier to cast too, it lurked in the Begginer's Tomes. Now you have to enter the library to substract it from the Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyverss grimoire, at the Unseen University.

What does it require? A blorple, as stated. As is well known, there's two spells for creating them, which you have to cast (depending on the spell/item) on the room you want to store. Then, for portalling there, just cast Jogloran's on the said blorple.

What skills do I need? Enchanting, Evoking, Binding, Dancing, Banishing

Has it worked? A correct output should be something like this:

You prepare to cast Jogloran's Portal of Cheaper Travel.
You start to sketch a door in the air with your finger / the xxx (only if holding a staff).
The lines you sketched in the air start to glow a red colour.
A strange green smell escapes from the forming door and slowly wisps its way around the room.
You can see the door starting to materialise, and try to ignore the small figures looking eagerly at the opening.
You start dancing wildly around the floor throwing power and moonbeams at it in the hope of scaring off the creatures.
A xxx door solidifies with a satisfying thump.

Help Information:

Jogloran's Portal of Cheaper Travel - create a portal to a far land.

Jogloran's Portal of Cheaper Travel is a miscellaneous type spell that uses Rictor's unreality factor to create a portal between two places on approximately the same level of reality. It can be cast at either a blorpled rock or a clever piece of jewellery. If you do not want to be followed, you can "push" or "shove" the portal, which will make it fall over.

Heezlewurst's Elemental Buffer

What's it calle
d? Heezlewurst's Elemental Buffer (in short, HEB).

What does it do?
The main use of (uncle) Heb is to cast a protective magical shield around you that protects thee partially of the effects of adverse attacks of elemental magick. The nature of the protection is determined by the Rhokshial's crystals you employ in the cast: red protects against fire, blue against cold, green against acid and yellow against noxious fumes. Employing all of them should protect against all these and maybe, plasma attacks (from the Spear?).
I find the spell of little use, as I am very unusually the victim of magic attacks, and even in that case, the protection given by this spell is only partial (approximately, it soaks half of the damage). Its only real uses might be in pkdom, to avoid painful backfires, or as an extra protection while walking around the Alchemist Guild, but even then, I fear it would be too cumbersome to remember and have the components for any good it does.

Where is it? It rests, generally undisturbed, in the Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyverss grimoire, at the Unseen University Library.

What does it require?
The focus of an octogram and from one to 4 different Rhokshial's crystals, at will. The crystal(s) being consumed in the casting.

What skills do I need?
Channeling, Evoking, Binding, Enchanting, Convoking

Has it worked?
A correct output should be something like this:

You prepare to cast Heezlewurst's Elemental Buffer on a a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal.
You look closely at a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal.
You feel how the octogram affects magic nearby.
You observe the symmetries of a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal and the octogram.
You stare deep into a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal.
You drop a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal into the centre of the octogram.
A small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal seem to twist and merge into a hazy blue, yellow and red stream of light, which rises and surrounds you.

Notes:

The spell is damn huge. It occupies tons of mindspace, takes some time to cast and consumes an outstanding 300 gps.

Different outputs have been known to happen. As I don't cast this spell regularly, they might be even more abundant. I got this one once:

You prepare to cast Heezlewurst's Elemental Buffer on a a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal.
You examine a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal.
You sense the magical field of the octogram.
You count the faces of a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal and the points of the octogram.
You hold a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal tightly in a fist.
You hurl a small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal into the centre of the octogram.
A small blue crystal, a small yellow crystal and a small red crystal seem to twist and merge into a hazy blue, yellow and red stream of light, which rises and surrounds you.

Frygellhan's Fiendish Orbit Disruptor

What's it called? Frygellhan's Fiendish Orbit Disruptor (nicknamed FFOD)

What does it do? Basically, this spell is for automatically knocking out of orbit all types of floaters (wizard and witch ones alike). The purpose of this, with the exception, perhaps, of confronting some wizard/witch npcs and of pk Wizards confronting themselves, is generally to bring down one's own shield when in bad state so as to repair it in a smithy.
The spell, though, is a little unpractical because of the heavy component employed; and therefore, I doubt it is much used, and shields are very easy to knock down without its medium anyway. Too easy...

Where is it? It lies for all to learn it in the Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyverss grimoire, at the Unseen University Library.

What does it require?: A chain, which isn't consumed in the process, but which is also damn heavy (7 pounds), bearing in mind that Strength isn't usually the strongest field for wizards.

What skills do I require?: Evoking, Channeling, Binding

Has it worked?: A good output should read something like this:

You prepare to cast Frygellhan's Fiendish Orbit Disruptor on xxx (target with floating object).
You start twirling the chain around xxx.
You carefully aim the chain at a point where it might intersect an object in orbit around xxx.
You send the chain into a counterwise orbit around xxx.
The chain scores a direct hit!
A (floating object) clatters to the ground.

Fabrication Classification Identification

What's it called?
Fabrication Classification Identification (in short, FCI)

What does it do?
This is one of the most useful spells for the recharging wizard, alongside with the already mentioned Crondor's Fabulous Detection. If that spell informed you of the safety of attempting to recharge a magical artifact, this spell 'identifies' the said artifact; the identification provides you with the 'true name' of the object (for example, blue crystal rings are 'Rings of Recall', red staves are 'Staves of Frottjor", Balsa Wands are 'Wands of Eternal Light', and so on), which I think is needed for attempting to recharge; and it also informs you of the number of charges left in the said artifact.
Of late, the items on which it can be cast (you have a list of them and of their proper names at Sined's) have been expanded somewhat, including yellow rings and some other trinklets, which shall be posted soon on this site.

Where is it?
It rests inside the folds of the Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyvers grimoire, a little bit into the depths of the Unseen University Library.

What does it require?
no components; a magical object, to investigate it.

What skills do I need?
Divining, Evoking, Convoking

Has it worked?
A correct output should be something like this:

You prepare to cast Fabrication Classification Identification on xxx (magical artifact).
You wonder about xxx.
You peer at xxx, probing at its ticklish parts.
You coax xxx to make it reveal its basic identity.
The weave indicates that xxx is a *** with xxx charges remaining

Help Information:

Fabrication Classification Identification - Identify an artifact.

The Fabrication Classification Identification is a first order miscellaneous spell that attempts to identify a magical artifact.

Notes:
We mentioned above that lately, some items have been added to those who get some sort of a feedback from FCI. They are items without 'evident' charges (although they 'spend' after some use), and therefore, dubious as 'artifacts', but they certainly are magical items, and add an appropiate line when looking at the weave. We've already talked about Twisted Black Amulets. Yellow stone rings provide the following:

The weave pulses with soft yellow light.

The elegant rings that result from transmuting plain gold ones through the spell Gillimer's Ring of Temperate Weather also provide a similar line:

The weave glows with the gentle warmth of a spring afternoon.

As for zodiac charms, they also present a message of their own:

The weave squirms and bounces in a happy confusion of fur, feather, claw and scale.

It remains to be known if other magical stuff gives some feedback (Klein bottles aren't considered an 'artifact', so for them, and many others, the weave is empty). Possibly, but not probably, the items made with the new light-clothing spell (Turnwhistle's Effulgent Autiridescence), which become equivalents of the Yellow stone rings, might give a weave the colour of the light they emit...

Endorphin’s Floating Friend

What's it called?
Endorphin’s Floating Friend (in short, EFF)

What does it do? Endorphin's is the basic and main wizardly protection and defensive spell (usually complemented, as a backup, by a TPA Shield, a Troll-skin and, in some cases, the GRG Spell Skeleton Warrior). It consists on a floating shield that will try to stop hits against you with a varying degree of success (more bonuses, less hits pass through it). In theory, at good shield control, it should cover up 100% of hits. But its limitations are obvious: some hits (specially when fighting many people) pass it; while using it, you cannot retort to physical defenses and, worst of all, it gets knocked down of orbit (usually, with specials, although unarmed hits from tough creatures, like grlfx or vampires also bring them clashing down very fast). After that, a wizard usually has to run some 2 or 3 rooms away carrying the shield to re-float it, hoping his other defenses will protect him in the meantime.

Because of its great importance for wizards, this is a spell that has been thoroughly researched. Sined's page has a table with the recommended relations of magic.spells.defensive bonuses and shield sizes. As for Sekiri's, it gives some more information about the skills, and that wizard's own research, which might not be totally outdated.

Where is it? The magical book in which it hides is the Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyverss, at the Unseen University Library.

What does it require? A shield. Try to get the right one for your bonuses, as calculated in the tables previously mentioned, or it won't protect you much at all.

What skills do I need? Evoking, Animating, Binding

Has it worked? Successful output renders the following lines:

You prepare to cast Endorphin's Floating Friend.
You clasp the xxx shield protectively.
You hold the xxx shield out and move it around in a circle.
You suggest to the xxx shield that it might like to do this of its own accord.
The xxx shield begins to float around you.

Help Information:

Endorphin's Floating Friend - floats a shield in space.

Endorphin's Floating Friend is a first order defensive spell that should be cast on a shield to float it around you, defending you without you having to hold it. The difficulty of floating a shield is dependent on its weight, although once it is floating, it will stay there indefinitely unless it is dislodged.

Notes:

If you aren't holding the shield, the output is slightly different:

You prepare to cast Endorphin's Floating Friend on the xxx shield.
You rock the xxx shield gently with your foot.
You suggest how nice it is to fly to the xxx shield.
You suggest to the xxx shield that it might like to do this of its own accord.
The xxx shield begins to float around you.

Brother Happalon’s Elementary Enchantment

What's it called?
Brother Happalon’s Elementary Enchantment (in brief, BHEE)

What does it do? It is one of two enchantment spells, this one being the 'low enchanter'. Enchanting, as you probably know, serves to make things last longer, giving them at the same time a nice, unhealthy and radioactivy octarine shine.
Even with high skills, this spell only allows you to take objects up to the lower 1-3 enchanting levels. From there on, Master Glimer's is required (with its higher demanding skills and expensive purple powder).
Should you need a more precise description of how enchanting works, you may find it here.

Where is it? The book in which it lies is Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyverss, in the UU Library.

What does it require? A funnel, which isn't (usually) consumed. And of course, an object to enchant.

What skills do I need?
Evoking, Enchanting, Chanting, Enchanting (2)

Has it worked? A correct output should read something like this:

You prepare to cast Brother Happalon's Elementary Enchanting on xxx.
You carefully inspect xxx.
You look around the area, noting local fluctuations in the thaumic field density.
You position the thaumic funnel between yourself and xxx and recite magical words.
Drawing in the local enchantment, you pour it into the funnel onto the xxx.
Excess enchantment sloshes out of xxx; the funnel fluoresces in the octarine as it absorbs the backwash.

Notes: Other outputs may appear and affect the funnel when the enchanted object is at the limit provided by this spell; it can fall (Suddenly the thaumic funnel bucks violently in your hand and leaps into the air. / The funnel falls to the ground. / How curious.), disappear (Suddenly the thaumic funnel bucks violently in your hand and leaps into the air. / The blue funnel spins slowly in mid-air, then vanishes with a small “pop!”) or even mutate into a living life form (Suddenly the thaumic funnel bucks violently in your hand and leaps into the air. / The blue funnel sparkles and turns into a small spotted caterpillar).

Books - Introeductyon too thee Strukture of thee Multyverss

A well-read volume is on the floor.

The covers of this book are well-creased and the pages are dog-eared, with many a fingerprint and grease stain on them. You’d guess that this is one of the main texts for a course at the University.

Small octarine sparks crackle fitfully through the creases and folds in the pages.
